I'm just waiting for someone to have a car accident fumbling with their phone troubleshooting. Waze and Apple better fix the issue or lawyer up.
It would still be the fault of the driver regardless...
I wasn't saying you have to unplug the cable, I'm just saying that is what I have seen to resolve the issue for me. It has required one of the following:
  1. Unplug cable and plug back in
  2. force quit and re-open waze
Either of the two have worked. The nice part of the cable option, is it typically resumes from where you left off instead of having to allow Waze to recalculate like it does when you force quit and re-open

You can turn the volume down when the announcements happen, then it should remember this volume for the future announcements

Yes, i am using 4.59.0.0 on an iPhone X
Well that is interesting then. I haven't noticed any large car icon rendering on the CarPlay screen since 4.59 came out, but I'm sure it is a matter of time before it comes back up again. Especially since you're saying it's still happening to you

Hi Debbie,

Thanks for contacting us about your inaccurate speedometer when connected to CarPlay.

Please note that this is a known issue that is not related to Waze as the car's computer passes the speed info to CarPlay and Waze displays this speed (wrong speed).

We reached out to several car manufacturers asking to fix this, it would be helpful to push for this fix if you could also reach out to your car manufacturer and report about this issue.

If you still have questions, feel free to reply and I’d be happy to help.

Best,

Zach

Yes, that is correct. My Ford Edge had this problem for a while and a Sync update fixed the issue

You can check this on the Ford website.

fw_man wrote:This is to report that Waze still looks crappy in Carplay. I am using the latest IOS 13.3.1, Latest Waze 4.59.0.0 on a 2020 Honda Accord EX.
The resolution appears to be 640x480. At the same time, Google maps has normal resolution (at least 4 times better) and Apple Maps has the same normal resolution.
I have read threads (from 2018!) that Waze can't control the resolution and it depends on the head unit. But somehow Google Maps got it right!
Common guys, 18 months has passed since then! Please fix.

Thanks very much,
fw_man
common guys? Who are they? :P

4.60 is released by the way, but it doesn't fix this same issue

krzychatc wrote:Hi guys, after the last update date 4.60 Waze on Apple Car Play is almost unusable. Speed camera warning pops up in the upper left corner, together with the other one in the bottom, and it's not possible to close it. It covers the navigational window and you don't know when is the next turn. The only solution is to disconnect the phone and connect it again.
I am not using Waze in my CarPlay until they push an update. This made driving to dangerous for me. I have this same issue after 4.60 update

Edit: support asked me to reinstall Waze and it seems have fixed it for now
