Anyone know why i cant mark up Mobile speed camera? i click on the camera icon it says “pending community review” and doesnt do anything so i currently mark them as police hidden.
If it is a mobile unit that is parked next to the road for a few hours, then mark it as Police.
The “speed camera” setting is for fixed speed cameras that are there for months or years.
If it is a Police car that is driving up and down an area catching speeding cars, don’t mark it at all.
Can we re-visit this? Mobile speed cameras and Police are run by two separate entities, one being the Roads and Maritime Services and one being the NSW Police Force. There have been times when Police are marked and there have been a mobile speed camera and other times where it is an assumed mobile speed camera however it is a Police Operation, Road Closure or simply a police car parked picking up lunches, getting coffee, or other non traffic related tasks.
This is not something we can control, and this isn’t the right place to suggest it to Waze themselves. You’d need to raise a suggestion at the Waze Suggestion Box, https://waze.uservoice.com/forums/59223-waze-suggestion-box in order for it to be considered by the Waze development team.
Note that if you do suggest it, then the focus should be on having a feature to report a temporary speed camera as a separate report type instead of police. Don’t mention Police and Transport/RMS being separate organisations because it is irrelevant to the feature - you’re suggesting a feature for usage around the world, it doesn’t depend on how we organise things in NSW.
The quality of real-time reports will always be a bit off, because it is solely dependent on the judgement of the Waze user making the report. It’s not designed for reporting Police that are moving (or getting their lunch) but the app doesn’t know if someone makes an inappropriate report.
