Nutty editor problem that thinks roads sigs are not correct

Some editor keeps telling me that that waze users should not read the street signs, that the GIS data is correct and when it conflicts with the GIS data, that the street signs are wrong.

I have tried 3 times, and included a google maps photo of the road sign, yet it keeps being rejected because some data some place says the road sign is wrong.

What is the point of user feed back if the users, pictures, and facts are considered wrong? A driver goes down the road, it says turn right on Broadway, you look for Broadway - no such sign, it says Commerce. Fix the data, don’t in effect tell all users that feedback data that they are clueless that some master data set someplace is more correct.

Every road and intersection is locked down so that I can not edit them.

It looks like you have worked with skyviewguru in the past to get some updates done. Have you contacted him?

Hi Doug,

Sorry to hear that you’ve had these issues with your reports. I’ll be glad to work with you on any problems you’ve found on the map. Please share where those issues are at. If you’d prefer you contact me separately, feel free to email or open a Hangout with me. My email for both is my username at gmail.com.

Thanks,

Hi Doug,

Sorry for my shorter answer earlier; I was at work but I wanted to acknowledge your comments here. I have responded to your report at Commerce/Broadway and Enterprise. If there are any other issues that you find, please feel free to let me know.

Regarding the locks, any road deemed a Primary Street by Idaho’s “Functional Classification” map is locked to at least level 2. However, if you find issues with roads locked above your level, in most cases you can still make the edits. You would just need to request an unlock, which can be done from the Update/Unlock Forums or in the Idaho Editors Google Hangout. A higher level editor would then unlock the road for you to make the changes (and walk you through them if appropriate). The road would be relocked after the changes are made satisfactorily.

In this scenario, due to a discrepancy between the signage and the GIS, I have messaged my contacts at both the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) and the Ada County Assessor’s office to determine which is correct. If the GIS is correct, we’ll request the signage be updated, and vice versa. Also, if the GIS is incorrect, we will fix Waze to reflect what is correct.

I appreciate you sharing your concerns and for giving me a chance to work with you on the issue. I will keep you posted as I hear back from those agencies.

Thanks,

SkyviewGuru

This is what I got back from ACHD:

We will replace the street name sign with a new one to reflect that Broadway is the east (NE) leg of the intersection.

Therefore, the map will remain as is and ACHD will correct their signage.

Thanks,
