While using Waze with CarPlay to navigate, the display intermittently and unexpectedly jumps to show a map of the destination area, even when the destination is still far away. For instance, during a trip from Maryland to Florence, South Carolina, the display would occasionally switch to show the Florence exit on I-95, despite being over 100 miles from that location. This created confusion, as the map suggested an immediate exit, only to reveal that the exit was much farther ahead. This behavior occurred four times during the Maryland-to-Florence drive and has also been observed on trips to destinations in Florida along I-95.
The issue occurred with both an iPhone 14 and an iPhone 16 connected to CarPlay, each running the latest software updates. CarPlay was used in a 2018 Cadillac CT6. Notably, the iPhones did not display the incorrect destination map behavior when disconnected from CarPlay.
